North Shore Maui & Cool, Green, Elevated Upcountry!

Spend a few hours or a whole day exploring the North shore, then make your way Upcountry - a cool, green contrast to the island's coastal areas. Start your day in Pā'ia and work your way in elevation to Ha'ikū, Makawao, Kula and Ulupalakua.

Pā'ia - North shore Maui. A vibrant, surf town with a free spirit. Filled with great restaurants, art galleries, adorable local retail shops and beautiful beaches. Follow Route 36 to Ho'okipa Beach Lookout to watch world class surfers, wind surfers and turtles resting on the beach (please respect the honu and obey all signs to keep your distance).

Makawao - Upcountry Maui. A historic cowboy (paniolo) town with art galleries, restaurants, bakeries, farmer's market (Saturday) and great retail shops.

Kula - Upcountry Maui. A quieter, agriculture area with wonderful farms and beautiful ocean views.

Ulupalakua - Upcountry Maui. A rural community on the slopes of Haleakalā.
